Welcome to CMU's first annual hackathon! This year we have three main focuses for you to choose from: Transporation & Sustainability, The Student Experience, Mental Health & Wellness on Campus. Once you pick your focus and problem, you have 18.5 hours to develop a solution.
The Problems:
Mental Health & Wellness at CMU:
- College campuses across the country are seeing demands for mental health services beyond the schools capacity. How can requests for mental health support be met without providing a personal counselor for everyone?
- Students are coming to CMU with less resilience and ability to handle challenges and disappointments. How can we help build student resilience and independence?
- Other
Transporation & Sustainability at CMU:
- What are some programs or initiatives that could be implemented to encourage people to: save water, save energy, recycle, reduce single-use plastic on campus?
- How can we make campus more bike friendly?
- Students without a car struggle to move around campus and Mount Pleasant, what type of public transportation could be offered to areas like CMU-RC, grocery stores, airports?
- Other
Student Experience at CMU:
- How to better inform students (and their parents) about food options - what is offered and where, how that's communicated, etc. This might be touchy but could provide a good feedback loop for Chartwell's and FAS.
- Ride share - how to help students find rides to and from home for weekends, holidays, and other breaks.
- Other
Good luck and happy problem solving!
